UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION
The University Women’s Association (UWA), the parent body of the Children’s Centre, is an umbrella women’s organization open to all female staff and all wives of staff of the University of Nigeria. Aside from the Children’s Centre Project, UWA has been involved in presenting lectures and workshops, improving environmental sanitation, reaching out to university students, donating to such agencies as the university medical centre and town prison, and providing relaxation for women and their families. UWA has also sent representatives to serve on various university committees and boards
Pharm Mrs. Chinelo Ozumba, FPC is a clinical pharmacist by training and is currently a Deputy Director (Pharmacy) at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku -Ozalla. She enjoys working with and mentoring youths especially young women. She is married with children to Prof. Benjamin C. Ozumba. As the wife of the Vice Chancellor, she is a patron of the University Women Association.
Dr. (Mrs) Ejikeme, Anthonia Nwamaka, Is from Umuahia in Abia state. She is a Senior Librarian in Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts, Masters and Ph.D in library and information science. Her area of specialization is School Librarianship. Her research interest is on children’s literacy development. She is currently the President of University Women’s Association (UWA) and a volunteer in Children’s Centre Library University of Nigeria Nsukka. As a librarian she has in many ways demonstrated her love for the profession especially to users of Nnamdi Azikiwe Library in their research work and working with children in their libraries, this makes her a librarian with difference. She belongs to the following professional bodies – Nigerian Library Association (NLA); and Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN). She is happily married with five children.
Mrs Nzei Joy Ihuoma is from Ebedei in Ukwuani LGA of Delta State.She is an academic staff of Natural science unit of School of General Studies of University of Nigeria Nsukka .She has B.Sc degree in Zoology. Masters degree in Zoology and currently running a Ph.D in Zoology with area of specialization in Stored Product Pest Management.She is a member of Zoological Society of Nigeria (ZSN) and Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN). She is the current Vice President of the University Woman’s Association(UWA) University of Nigeria Nsukka.
Chinwe Catherine Okpoko B.A, M.A and Ph.D (Nig) is the serving Secretary, University Women Association (UWA), University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She is a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication specialising in Health Communication. Her other areas of research endeavor are Culture and Development Communication. She has published widely in the above and related areas. Chinwe has served in different capacities in both religious and social organisations; 1. Mary Slessor Hall Representative, 2. Nigerian Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS) 1993-1994; 3. Vice-President, Nigerian Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS)1995-1996; 4. Secretary General, University of Nigeria Corp Members’ Association 1998 Second Tier; 5. Assistant Secretary, Catholic Women Organisation St Peter’s Chaplaincy, UNN 2012- date. She is happily married with five children.
Mrs. Izueke Ukamaka Dorathy is from Enugu State. She is an academic staff of Home Science and Management Department, University of Nigeria Nsukka. She holds B.Sc Degree in Home Science and Management. She is the Assistant Secretary of the University Woman’s Association (UWA) University of Nigeria Nsukka.
Mrs. Nwanosike, Chinonso Louisa is a staff of Psychology Department, University of Nigeria Nsukka. She holds B.Sc Degree in Home Science and Management. Chinonso is one of our strong members that works hard to improve the good image of UWA. She is the Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.) of the University Woman’s Association (UWA) University of Nigeria Nsukka.
Mrs. AJUZIOGU, Christiana U. is a staff in the Registrar’s Department (Records Unit), University of Nigeria Nsukka. She hails from Amuzu Nweafor, Aboh Mbaise LGA in Imo State, Nigeria. She is an astute member of UWA with good intent to spread the power of optimism.She is the Treasurer of the University Woman’s Association (UWA) University of Nigeria Nsukka. Happily married with four kids.
