UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION
The University Women's Association (UWA), the parent body of the Children's Centre, is an umbrella women's organization open to all female staff and all wives of staff of the University of Nigeria. Aside from the Children's Centre Project, UWA has been involved in presenting lectures and workshops, improving environmental sanitation, reaching out to university students, donating to such agencies as the university medical centre and town prison, and providing relaxation for women and their families. UWA has also sent representatives to serve on various university committees and boards.

Okolo is the current Patron of UWA.
Our new patron feted women of the community at a grand party held at Princess Alexandra Auditorium in September 2010, on which occasion a new executive was elected to revitalize the University Women’s Association.
The Children's Centre Committee is a committee of UWA.
The Women's Book Club meets monthly to discuss a variety of fiction and nonfiction titles.
